THE NEW ALBUM
LIFE GOES ON...
I’ve gone through many stages in my life, from precocious kid to awkward middle schooler to semi-cool, semi-fool teen to beachside frat boy to L.A. single to producer to family man, experiencing both success and failure along the way. And all along the way, I have enjoyed a soulful connection to the music I’ve played. The thousands of hours I’ve spent playing my guitars are a key part of my path as a person. Decades ago, I had a short-lived fling with a recording career; however, neither of my albums were what you would call a "success". Apparently, I wasn’t good enough. Now, in this next act of my life, and with years of ongoing study and practice behind me, I have made one more album—one that hits, for me, on every note.

Two of these songs appeared on my first album and one on my second. They, like the 12 new songs, all came through, at one point or another, on their own, sometimes spontaneously, with their own reasons for existence. As such, they speak for themselves.

I recorded twelve of the songs at the historic 4th Street Recording Studio in Santa Monica, California, headed by the inimitable Kathleen Wirt. There, I worked with the extraordinarily talented producer, engineer, and master musician Sejo Navajas. Sejo’s steady hand brought this album to life sonically.

I recorded two additional songs in June of 2025 with Jim Wirt at his studio in Santa Cruz, California. Jim produced my first album, is a former partner in 4th Street and brought his own energetic flair to the two tracks we did together.

The last song on the album was recorded in the studio of a tremendously talented musician named Brad Stanfield. In addition, Brad's wife, Periel sings the featured background vocals on The Bell.

I would like to say thank you to all the musicians who joined us, as well as to Scott, our studio tech! In addition to Sejo and Jim's work on multiple instruments, I especially want to point out the vocal contributions made by Mika, Lina and Periel, the elegantly harmonic piano of Sam, and the driving force that Chris provided on drums. I play the acoustic guitar parts and sing.

I loved making this album, and on a personal note, I want to thank Kaysie (In the Morning Light, We’re Still We), who has heard each of these songs at all stages of their creation, over and over and over and over and… well, you get the picture.

So, in closing, I am proud to present to you a collection of fifteen songs, entitled…

P.S. That is our grandson, Leo, on the cover of the album!
